HAWAII “ALOHA” CHAPTER 2008 SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION

The Hawaii “Aloha” Chapter of the National Naval Officers Association (NNOA) is committed to the educational development of youth residing in Hawaii.  As a result, NNOA sponsors a number of highly successful programs including: youth mentoring, academic tutoring, and the annual awarding of financial scholarships to eligible college bound seniors. 

 

This year the Hawaii “Aloha” Chapter  is continuing our annual effort towards enhancing educational opportunities for graduating area high school seniors. The Chapter intends to award scholarships in various amounts to graduating high school seniors residing in the state of Hawaii who have demonstrated academic achievement, leadership demonstrated while participating in extracurricular activities, personal commitment to education and career goals and potential to succeed. Scholarship recipients are selected without any obligation to join or affiliate themselves with the military services.  

Details of Award.

The award is designed to support the student during their college freshman year. To claim the award, the recipient must enroll full-time at a two- or four-year accredited college or university, and submit verification of enrollment to the Hawaii Chapter Scholarship Committee by August 15, 2008. Requests for funds after that date will not be honored.

Eligibility Requirements

1.       Student must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.

2.       Student must be accepted, or planning to enroll, full-time in the fall of 2008 in an undergraduate program of studies leading to a Bachelor’s Degree at an accredited college or university.

3.       Student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 (based on a 4.0 scale) to meet the minimum requirements.
